First of all, what is Passion Fruit, and how did it get its name? 

Passion Fruit is native to subtropical and tropical regions of South America, stretching from Brazil to northern Argentina. Tribes first cultivated it and enjoyed the fruit for its juicy, filled seed center. The name has no relationship with romance. In the 16th and 17th centuries, Spanish and Christian missionaries in South America saw unique parts of the passion flowers as symbols of the crucifixion of Christ — “the Passion.” 

Passion Fruit has a bold, tart, and sweet tropical flavor. It has a juicy, jelly-like pulp filled with crunchy edible seeds. The taste is a mix of citrus, pineapple, kiwi, and mango or Guava hint very similar to traditional tropical fruit punch. Its bright, zesty bite closely matches the tartness of Kiwifruit and a fresh pineapple.
