The Fresno County Farm Bureau (FCFB) will host a County Inspections Training on Feb. 18, aimed at helping farmers and ranchers better prepare for Agricultural Use Monitoring Inspections and Grower Headquarters Records Inspections conducted by the Fresno County Agricultural Commissioner’s Office.
The training will take place from 9 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at the Fresno County Farm Bureau office, 1274 W. Hedges Ave., in Fresno. Growers will have the option to attend either in person or virtually, though Continuing Education Hours—two hours of laws and regulations credit—will be offered only to those attending in person.
The event will begin with welcoming remarks from Ryan Jacobsen, CEO of the Fresno County Farm Bureau, followed by two in-depth training sessions presented by the Fresno County Department of Agriculture.
The first session, running from 9:05 a.m. to 10:05 a.m., will focus on Agricultural Use Monitoring Inspections. Topics will include pesticide labeling and compliance at use sites, notice of intent requirements, certified applicator supervision, personal protective equipment regulations, emergency medical care postings, decontamination facilities, field postings, equipment safety, pesticide transport and container handling, backflow prevention, employee communication and notification requirements related to apiary operators and neonicotinoid pesticide applications.
After a short break, the second session will cover Grower Headquarters Records Inspections from 10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. This portion will address restricted material permits, pesticide use records and retention requirements, operator and site identification, emergency medical planning, hazard communication and training for handlers and field workers, proper pesticide storage practices, respiratory protection programs and medical supervision requirements.
Both sessions will be led by Fresno County Department of Agriculture staff, including Cecilia Ceja, Pesticide Division Supervising Agricultural/Standards Specialist; Kayla Fletcher, Agricultural/Standards Specialist; and Shawn Athayasay, Deputy Agricultural Commissioner.
The Fresno County Farm Bureau encourages growers to attend as a proactive step in understanding inspection requirements and maintaining compliance with state and county agricultural regulations.
