The East Coast Produce Expo will kick off the fresh-produce industry’s calendar from January 12–13 at the JW Marriott Turnberry Resort & Spa in Aventura, Florida. Formerly known as GOPEX, the reimagined event has quickly positioned itself as the first major fresh produce gathering of the year, bringing together growers, shippers, retailers, foodservice buyers, marketers and supply-chain partners for two days focused on innovation, networking and business development.

The event is designed to preserve the intimate, relationship-driven atmosphere attendees valued in GOPEX, while expanding opportunities and programming for a rapidly evolving marketplace.

The East Coast Produce Expo highlights what the industry has come to expect from an early-year gathering: meaningful connections, high-quality education and a setting that encourages both productivity and camaraderie. Its South Florida location provides an inviting backdrop in the middle of winter, with the resort offering easy access to Miami’s cultural, culinary and nightlife options.

The 2026 agenda begins with a series of laid-back, high-energy networking activities designed to get attendees interacting even before formal programming starts. Options include a golf tournament, a pickleball competition and a Little Havana food tour, giving participants a chance to connect in relaxed settings. The popular “Produce Pool Day” returns as well, offering sunshine, refreshments, chair massages and informal conversation before the more business-focused sessions begin.

An Olympic-themed Opening Reception will set a spirited tone for the event. Attendees are encouraged to show off their best USA-inspired athletic attire while enjoying an evening of games, including pineapple bowling and curling. It’s a lighthearted kickoff that underscores ECPE’s emphasis on fun, creativity and building authentic relationships within the produce community.

When the education program begins, the content is designed to provide immediately actionable insights for the year ahead. One of the marquee sessions is “Fresh Trends 2026: Consumer Insights Revealed,” a keynote offering the latest in consumer research. The presentation examines what influences today’s produce shoppers, how different generations approach fruits and vegetables and how retailers and suppliers can adapt marketing and merchandising strategies to capture more consumer attention. With data covering more than 50 top commodities, the session is expected to give attendees a detailed roadmap for aligning with consumer demand in 2026.

Another highlight is the panel discussion “Harnessing the Marketing Mindset of CPGs to Fuel Produce Consumption.” Moderated by editors from Farm Journal and The Packer, the session brings together marketing leaders from across the industry to discuss how lessons from consumer packaged goods can be applied to fresh produce. The conversation will dig into tactics for building brand loyalty, enhancing visibility and driving sustained consumption in a category that has traditionally relied less on brand identity than packaged goods.

Adding inspiration to the program, three-time Olympic gymnast and entrepreneur Dominique Dawes will deliver a keynote titled “Success is a Journey, Not a Destination.” Drawing on her athletic career and business experiences, Dawes will offer insights on leadership, personal excellence and navigating challenges—messages that resonate well with produce professionals gearing up for a new year.

On Jan. 13, the trade show floor opens, giving buyers and suppliers the opportunity to connect directly. Exhibitors from across the supply chain will showcase new products, packaging, technology and service offerings. The show’s mid-morning opening allows attendees to move seamlessly from the morning’s educational insights into conversations with exhibitors, turning ideas into potential partnerships.

The expo concludes with a relaxed Closing Reception on the resort’s lawn, giving participants one last chance to reconnect, exchange ideas and solidify business relationships before heading home.

With its mix of education, networking, entertainment and strategic insight, the East Coast Produce Expo 2026 is poised to be a must-attend event for anyone looking to set the tone for the year ahead in the fresh-produce industry.
