Mission Produce Partners with Anthony Vineyards on Organic California Keitt Mango Program

By Keith LoriaJune 18, 20263 min read

Mission Produce is expanding its mango portfolio through a new partnership with Anthony Vineyards that will bring premium organic California-grown Keitt mangos to retailers during the summer season.

The agreement names Mission Produce as the marketing and distribution partner for Anthony Vineyards’ organic Keitt mango crop, a limited-supply program that combines two trends gaining momentum with consumers: locally grown produce and organic fruit.

The 2026 California Keitt mango season is expected to begin in July and continue through early September. Grown in California’s Coachella Valley, the fruit is harvested close to market and delivered at peak maturity, providing retailers with a fresh, domestically grown mango option during the summer months.

“California-grown, organic mangos deliver clear value to shoppers while creating margin opportunity for retailers,” said Brooke Becker, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Mission Produce. “Organics represent a fast-growing and increasingly important segment of the mango category, while locally grown fruit continues to resonate with shoppers seeking freshness and quality.”

The company noted the program gives retailers access to a differentiated offering that supports premium merchandising and helps capitalize on growing consumer interest in organic produce. The company noted that organic mangos continue to gain share within the category, reflecting broader trends throughout the produce department.

According to industry data cited by Mission Produce, retail sales of organic mangos reached nearly 70 million pounds in 2025, representing a 154% increase compared with 2020. Organic mangos now account for approximately 16% of total mango volume sold at retail, a share that is significantly larger than the organic segment’s representation across the overall produce department.

Consumer research also suggests strong interest in locally grown fruit. Mission said nearly one in five mango shoppers actively seek local produce, while that figure rises to more than one in four among shoppers who regularly purchase organic products.

For Anthony Vineyards, the partnership provides an opportunity to expand the reach of a specialty crop that has become an important part of its Coachella Valley operation.

“For generations, our family has focused on growing exceptional fruit in the Coachella Valley, and these mangos are a point of pride for our team,” said Anthony Bianco, co-owner of Anthony Vineyards. “Partnering with Mission allows us to bring Anthony’s Organic Mangos to a broader market while preserving the quality, care and local heritage that define this program.”

One of the distinguishing characteristics of California-grown Keitt mangos is that they do not require hot-water treatment, a process commonly used on imported mangos. Because the fruit is grown domestically and harvested closer to market, it can be shipped at peak maturity, helping deliver strong color, flavor and consistency.

The partnership further strengthens Mission Produce’s position within the mango category and reflects the company’s broader strategy of expanding premium fruit offerings. Best known as one of the world’s largest avocado marketers, Mission has continued investing in mangos as retailers seek opportunities to grow tropical fruit sales and meet evolving consumer demand for premium, fresh produce.
